The European Commission has launched a public consultation on the upcoming Citizens Energy Package, which aims to strengthen citizens’ participation in the energy transition and tackle energy poverty across the EU.

EFIEES welcomes this initiative, as delivering the Fit for 55 package and achieving the EU’s climate neutrality goals depends on a just transition that protects vulnerable households from rising energy costs.

Beyond financial support, energy management solutions such as Energy Performance Contracts (EnPCs) can play a crucial role in engaging citizens directly. By combining energy efficiency upgrades with user coaching, EnPCs can help households better understand and manage their energy use. EFIEES calls on the Commission to place energy efficiency and energy management solutions at the heart of the Citizens Energy Package.
