EFIEES’ Answer to the Consultation on the future of the LIFE Programme
Earlier this week, EFIEES has submitted its answer to the targeted consultation on the future of the LIFE programme.
We reminded, among others, the importance for the Climate Change adaptation/mitigation sub-programme to support the development and the implementation of Member States’ NECPs, as well as regions, and local stakholders in raising awarness on these topics.
Until 2021, a new sub-programme on Clean Energy Transition will also be added to LIFE. We emphasized the importance to design this sub-programme so as to support the development, the demonstration and the mainstreaming of innovative technologies, methodologies and processes, while allowing the removal of market barriers in order to support the uptake of renewable energy and energy efficiency.
While we welcome LIFE’s new Clean Energy Transition sub-programme, we reminded in our answer, that it is essential to set a minimum co-funding rate of 80%, (and as close as possible to 100%) for coordination and support action projects. This minimum co-funding rate is needed to reach the objectives set for this sub-programme and to support renewables energy and energy efficiency projects which would have traditionnally fallen under H2020.
