Agenda
Tomasz Surma – Energy 2.0: The Modern World of Heating
Our Polish member, Tomasz presented an overview of the district heating sector in his country, which serves around 15 million customers. He emphasised that EU policies, such as the Fit for 55 package, are the main drivers of decarbonisation in the country and highlighted the importance of efficient District Heating and Cooling systems and the Energy Efficiency Directive (EED) implementation.
Francisco Silvero Marques – AI-Powered Energy Efficiency: Key to Decarbonising Cities
Francisco presented a smart, circular approach to energy systems: Implement energy-saving measures → reduce consumption → cut costs → reinvest in efficiency.
Pascal Guillaume – French recipes for smart heat in cities
Our President, and President for our French member FEDENE, Pascal shared insights from France’s experience in promoting district heating. He emphasised the critical role of geothermal energy, which is a key priority for French authorities. He also pointed to urban cooling as a tool to better contain refrigerants and reduce the heat island effect in cities.
It was followed by an enriching Q&A and final remarks of EFIEES’ Secretary General, Valérie Plainemaison.
